Show Notes:
Understanding the Wheel of the Year
Robert, the founder of Wyvern Academy of Witchcraft in Los Angeles, presented on the Wheel of the Year, explaining it as a graphic pie divided into two halves representing the light and dark halves of the year. He described the light half, starting with the winter solstice and ending at the summer solstice, as a period of rebirth and maximum solar energy. The dark half begins at the summer solstice and ends at the winter solstice, marked by diminishing light and longer nights. Robert also mentioned the equinoxes, which fall on the horizontal line dividing the pie, representing balance between day and night.
Magical Dragon Rituals and Transformations
Robert discussed the book "Year of the Magical Dragon" by Virginia Chandler, focusing on how it describes the Sabbaths and their significance. He explained the importance of purpose in rituals and honoured ancestors during Samhain. Robert also described Yule as a time to honour Ice Dragons and shed what no longer serves us, using a physical ice cube ritual to symbolize this transformation.
Imbolc and Witchcraft Insights
Robert discussed the significance of Imbolc, a Sabbat honouring the goddess Brigid, and its connection to the return of light and warmth. He emphasized the personal nature of witchcraft and encouraged practitioners to trust their instincts in rituals, noting that intent influences outcomes. Robert also explained the role of hearth dragons in symbolizing creativity and passion, comparing lighting a fire with a match to a transformative experience. Finally, he touched on the spring equinox, Ostara, and the dragons associated with new life and creation.
Spring Cleaning for Personal Growth
Robert discussed the concept of personal growth and transformation, using the metaphor of spring cleaning to illustrate how making space in one's life allows for new opportunities. He explained that the "Dragons of making" help individuals achieve higher goals and adapt to their environment. Robert also described Beltane as a major Sabbat celebrating sexuality and primal instincts, emphasizing the importance of waking up to one's physical powers and desires. He encouraged listeners to explore new ideas and perspectives while maintaining their own authenticity, suggesting that true growth involves understanding why certain beliefs may not be right for oneself while acknowledging their validity for others.
Golden Dragon Sabbath Insights
Robert discussed the significance of the Golden Dragon Sabbath, which occurs during the summer solstice, and its association with the idea of a phoenix rising from the ashes. He emphasized the importance of finding guiding lights in life and overcoming fears by embracing one's inner light. Robert also explained the connection between dragons and various aspects of life, including victory and abundance, and mentioned the upcoming Sabbaths of Lunasa and Mabin, which celebrate harvests and victories.
Wheel of the Year Teachings
Robert discussed the Wheel of the Year and emphasized the importance of following natural cycles, becoming closer to the Earth and celestial bodies, and maintaining balance in life. He encouraged honouring all seasons and dragons that guide one's journey, noting that the path can be paused for recalibration. Robert recommended the book "Year of the Magical Dragon" by Virginia Chandler for further learning. EnglishMystic provided Robert's social media links for those interested in connecting with him.
